Iran-Contra Affair
While evidence does exist that then President Reagan was a supporter of the Contra cause, no evidence has ever been uncovered that proves that Reagan never anything about the arrangement of guns for hostages. If you don't apply, you will never get pardoned.
Regular folks can't imagine that the President would actually consider their pardon application let alone grant them a pardon. That's not how it works. The Department of Justice reviews the federal pardon application and carefully scrutinizes it. Only after the pardon application gets past the DOJ, does the President's staff even get involved. That is why it is so important to have an experienced pardon attorney author your application so the application has a chance with the Department of Justice.
